FORGIVENESS 001

Peter: Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times?
Jesus: I say not unto thee, until seven times: but, until seventy times seven!
The above was a conversation between Jesus and one of His disciples, Peter, in Matthew 18:21-22
The word “forgiveness” according to the dictionary is an act which makes us to stop feeling angry with somebody who has done something to harm, annoy, or upset us. It is a word which is very easy to say and very common, yet for majority, it is very difficult to carry out.
Some people believe or feel there are levels or magnitude of offenses that require forgiveness and some that do not require. But we can see through the conversation between Jesus and Peter that forgiveness is an act that must be carried out or practiced irrespective of the magnitude, height or number of offenses that we feel. Jesus said 70×7=490 times in a day!
No matter the degree or amount of offense or sin someone commits against us, we owe them forgiveness!
In case you’re reading this and you feel very heavy in your heart towards someone who has wronged you, remember we all are as well guilty one way or the other against God, yet he forgives us even before hand. Or who can stand him if he regards our iniquities…can you?
I want you to know that, God being God he is, cannot command us to do what he God cannot do, for we are made in his image, after his likeness.
Unforgiveness has hindered a lot of good things coming our way without us knowing it. When you forgive, you are actually doing so for your own good…for yourself, and you relieve yourself of heaviness and you become open and credible for God’s manifold blessings!
So, wouldn’t you rather forgive today and be free?
